Lavanta VillageWhere to Stay
Two of our favorite hotels in Istanbul are the Yesil Ev (Green Housde) and the Aya Sofya Pansyonlari. Both are renovated Ottoman mansions and both offer reasonable rates and an ideal location, adjacent to the Aya Sofya. For travelers on a budget, the Yucelt Hostel, in the same area, is a good option. Travelling beyond Istanbul? We offer special rates at hotels and resorts throughout Turkey. A particular favorite is the Lavanta Village Resort in Bodrum, a great place to spend a couple of days before or after you embark on the BLUE VOYAGE.

Here is a sample of a tour that we suggest you while staying in BODRUM

Day 1 - Arrival to Bodrum, Milas airport and transfer to the beautiful "LAVANTA VILLAGE". Enjoy your welcome drink while registering for check-in. Enjoy a quite dinner by the poolside.

Day 2 - Morning at leisure. You might want to join the buffet breakfast or have a leisurely breakfast at your own pace in your room. This afternoon we will take you to Gumusluk where you will visit the town of Yalikavak and if you are lucky there will be a very colorful local market (Thursdays only!). Tonight you'dine in a local restaurant in Gumusluk, including Mezes, fresh seafood and the traditional Turkish drink "RAKI". After dinner return to the hotel for accommodations.

Day 3 - After breakfast we will visit Bodrum: St. Peter's Castle, the Underwater Museum and Mausoleum, lunch is at leisure in Bodrum. Transfer back to the hotel included. This evening enjoy colorful dinner at the "Lavanta" where you will taste all local produces…different types of local cheese, olives, home made bread and other mezes with an explanation on different types of local wines.

Day 4 - After a buffet breakfast get ready for a day of fun, sun and swimming in the pristine waters of the Aegean sea…we'll board our private boat and head to different bays in the area…enjoy lunch on board. Sip your Turkish tea while admiring the picture perfect sunset…an afternoon tea never tested better…Tonight is your farewell barbecue dinner including local dishes, wines and raki.

Day 5 - After breakfast, according to your departure time we will transfer you to the airport.

The cost of this tour including accomodation, transfers, all sightseeing, boat trip, all the meals and the drinks where indicated, per person $575.00 (USD). The accommodations are in luxurious double room. All rooms are individually decorated with antiques, local carpets and crafts.

For guidebooks, we strongly recommend LONELY PLANET Istanbul and TURKEY; a Travel Survival Kit. Both volumes manage to be highly readable and complete at the same time. Lonely Planet also offers a great road atlas of Turkey. MAPLINK also offers a great selection of maps.

on books about Turkey!

To get a feel for the country before you leave, we recommend anything by Mary Lee Settle, especially, Turkish Reflections: A biography of a Place, Freya Stark's Alexander's Path, Looking for Osman by Eric Lawlor, Nine days to Istanbul by Jeanne Frankel de Corrale. Jeffrey Seal's a Fez of the Heart, and Orhan Pamuk 's novels, several recently translated to English.
