Superwhites, 20-21 February in Rome

SuperWhites is a well established event in Rome dedicated to the great white wines of Friuli Region. The new edition will take place on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 February.

Friuli white wines are one of most famous whites in the world, appreciated by Romans too. The event is organized by Slow Food, the italian worldwide organization dedicated to good, clean and equal food.

Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world.

To do that, Slow Food brings together pleasure and responsibility, and makes them inseparable. Today, Slow Food has over 100,000 members in 132 countries.

Sixteen wineries in the city of Rome will participate at SuperWhites and they will illustrate the production and land of more than 60 participating companies as long as offering free tastes.

The idea of Superwhites relies on the image of a territory, that of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, in the North-East of Italy. This land is closely linked to the production of white wines, following quality and excellence as modality of production.

Superwhites is made by small events through Rome.  Every appointment willcombine the best white wines with dishes and flavors typical of the place or country.

Obviously, speaking about Friuli, we cannot mention the Prosciutto di San Daniele (San Daniele Ham), one of the most precious of the whole italian Penisola.

Historic and cultural landscape will be displayed by the main actor of Superwhites, the winemakers, who are pleased to meet personally people and hear the comments of the tasters.

You will have the opportunity to compare the different nuances between producers, areas of production, while, on the other hand, producers have the opportunity to show unity and to understand the impact of their work on a varied audience, and certainly not naive.

Each year the number of Romans and tourists visiting the Enoteche (Wineries) of Superwhites is growing. Journalists, consumers, experts and novices meet to share knowledges, tasting, buting or simply listening to the stories of wine.

The main event will take place on Sunday 21 at Rome Cavalieri Hotel (formerly called Hilton). Here is the complete list of the parallel events and the wineries participating, everyone presenting 3 or 4 wine producers.
